Miss Morning is a punk songwriter and live band based in Asbury Park, New Jersey, known for raw, riot grrrl-inspired energy and DIY roots in the Jersey Shore music scene.
The Origin Story
Miss Morning got her start as a songwriter in the band Cassette Daydreams at Lakehouse Music Academy, performing at events like Jersey Pride 2023 and Jersey Pride 2024.
It was her then-producer, Kate Ortiz, who introduced her to Bikini Kill, and she was inspired by the unfiltered energy. From there, Miss Morning taught herself to scream and poured that passion straight into her solo project.

The Band Forms
After the EP release, Miss Morning put together a live band to play gigs, promote the music, and have fun doing it. The original lineup:
- Fatima – guitar
- Grace – bass
- Sona – drums
- Miss Morning – vocals
The band’s first show together was at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, followed by a Sweet Sixteen EP release party on Miss Morning’s birthday, March 14th, 2025.
Miss Morning’s Mini Jersey Shore Tour
From there, the band went on to play “Miss Morning’s Mini Jersey Shore Tour”, which included a in-store at Jack’s Music Shop promoting the CD for the EP. Three singles released with this lineup:
- Waste My Youth
- Love (Take Yourself Out Dancing)
- U R A Terrible Person (Miss Morning’s Version)
Though the songs are recorded with the intention of kicking off a sophomore EP, a question starts to form: is it actually coming?
Hiatus and A Lineup Change
Subsequently, the band went on hiatus after playing the Asbury Park Punk Rock Flea Market on October 5th, 2025, to focus on new music. During this time, the songwriter writes, records, and nearly releases and a fourth track. There’s even a music video in the archives for it (wink wink 😉)
Then, the band regrouped for one night at the Stone Pony in February 2026 with a new lineup: Sona (drums), Penny (bass), and Miss Morning (guitar and vocals).
Simultaneously, the songwriter scrapped the sophomore EP idea altogether in favor of something bigger: a debut full-length album. She began writing, and recording began during the next hiatus.
The Band Returns
Miss Morning then came back as a full band in May 2026 with this lineup:
- Penny – lead guitar
- Grace – bass
- Sona – drums
- Miss Morning – vocals/rhythm guitar
Highlights include a Scooby-Doo-themed costume show at Wildair Beerworks and a set at local music festival Solstice Fest. Once Miss Morning settles into film school in Boston, the band will be back on stage
Miss Hollywood: The Debut Album
Meanwhile, Miss Morning’s debut album, Miss Hollywood, is coming! It’s stacked with the already released singles plus brand-new music!
